If you have just become homeless, are sleeping rough or need advice for getting off the street and moving on, there a number of support services to help you.

Homeless advice and assistance

We may be able help you find accommodation if you have recently become homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless through our homeless assessment.

Support for rough sleepers

There are currently no night shelters for adult rough sleepers in Preston.

However, there are a number of soup kitchens and 'drop ins' offering free or cheap meals.

Winter watch

During the cold winter months, we operate a scheme called Winter Watch.

Winter Watch offers rough sleepers a warm indoor location to sleep in when outdoor temperatures fall below zero degrees Celsius for three consecutive nights.

Rough sleepers can be referred to Winter Watch via the Foxton Centre. Please visit the centre by 3pm to be referred on to the scheme.

The following services specialise in volunteering opportunities for homeless individuals and can be a great way of gaining experience to help you secure future employment:

• Recycling Lives is a Preston based charity that helps homeless people to rebuild their lives through training, support and work experience.

• Emmaus offers homeless people a supportive place to live, work experience and training in their social enterprises to people move on with their lives.

Visit Jobcentre Plus Preston for help to find a job. Opening hours are weekdays 8am - 6pm.
