Recycling on-the-go bins in Preston City Centre

Recycling symbol

There are currently four recycling on-the-go bins in the city centre to help you recycle bottles and cans when you are out and about in Preston.

The eye-catching bins are inspired by environmental charity Hubbub's #InTheLoop - recycling toolkit and is the UK's biggest collaborative approach to boost recycling on-the-go.

Preston City Council is the first local authority in the north-west to trial a campaign based on the toolkit.

Recycling on the go bins

Items you can put in the recycling bins

Please place only these items in the bright yellow recycling bins:

  • Plastic bottles
  • Glass bottles
  • Metal drink cans

Items you can't put in the recycling bins

Please do not place any of these items in the recycling bin and dispose in the general waste litter bin:

  • Coffee cups*
  • Takeaway packaging and cups
  • Paper or card*
  • Plastic bags*
  • Cartons*
  • Dog waste
  • Crisp and sweet packets*
  • Cigarette butts

Please adopt an 'if in doubt, leave it out' approach so we can collect the right materials for recycling.
