Litter picking volunteer - Preston City Council

Person putting litter in bin

Thank you very much for your interest in environmental volunteering.

Our volunteer litter pickers are a dedicated set of individuals who pride themselves with clearing our green spaces, pavements and parks from litter and rubbish. We are extremely grateful for the hard work that they do.

Who can become a litter picker?

Anyone can apply to become a litter picker volunteer. However, if you are under the age of 18 you must be accompanied by an adult.

Can you choose where you litter pick?

Volunteers may litter pick either in their local area or at a particular grot spot in the Preston area.

How much time is required?

Volunteers can offer as much or as little of their spare time as they choose. We are grateful any amount of time given up to help remove litter from our green spaces, pavements and parks.

Do you need any equipment?

We can loan volunteers equipment to aid in personal and group litter picking activities. This includes:

  • rubbish bags
  • bag holders
  • litter pickers

Please note: we only loan equipment for use in the Preston area.
