What we need
Preston Relief In Need Charity ("the Charity") will be what is known as the "Controller" of the personal data you provide to it. The Charity will collect:-
(a) basic personal data about you which includes your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, date of birth, details of family members etc.;
(b) special category data about you and family members such as disabilities and health data;
(c) other household related information, which includes financial details pertaining to you and your family members;
(d) information about you and your family from third parties such as the body referring you to this Charity, including the reason why you are applying for assistance from the Charity.
Why we need it
The Charity uses the personal information supplied on your behalf in order that it can consider and determine whether to make a grant of money for providing or paying for items, services or facilities calculated to reduce your condition of need, hardship or distress, in accordance with the charitable objects of the Charity's scheme.
What we do with it
The personal information that is provided will be treated as confidential but it may be shared with the following -
- The Trustees of the Charity
- Officers of Preston City Council, including officers administrating the Household Support Fund.
- Gift92 (Registered Charity No. 1015952)
- The Harris Charity (Registered Charity No. 526206)
The Charity will only use the personal information provided in ways which are permitted by the General Data Protection Regulation and the current UK Data Protection law.
The Charity will not disclose the personal information provided to third parties for marketing purposes.
What are your rights
You have the right to:
- request a copy of your information (known as a subject access request)
- request rectification or erasure of your information,
- request a restriction on the processing of your information, and,
- object to processing of your information,
- complain to the Information Commissioner's Office about the way the Council processes your information.

How long we keep your information
The Charity will keep the personal information provided for as long as it is required by it or other regulatory bodies in order to comply with legal and regulatory requirements or for other operational reasons. In most cases this will be a minimum of seven years.
