The Household Support Fund (Round 5) is open for applications from residents of Preston to apply - but you haven't got long before the deadline.

The grants can help with:

  • energy and water bills
  • food
  • essential items

The objective of the Household Support Fund is to provide crisis support to vulnerable households in most need with the cost of essentials.

Councillor Nweeda Khan, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing said:

"Schemes like the Household Support Fund are intended to help those who need help and support during these difficult times, and I would urge all eligible residents in need of help and assistance with energy and water bills, food and essential items to apply."

To be eligible, applicants must reside in the Preston area and only one application per household will be considered. Funding is aimed at anyone who's vulnerable or cannot pay for essentials.

You do not have to be getting benefits to get help from your local council. If you're in receipt of benefits, they will not be affected if you get a payment from a Household Support Fund scheme.

There are different ways to apply for the Household Support Fund:

The deadline for applying for the Household Support Fund is Monday, 30 September 2024 however this is subject to change if the scheme runs out of funds.
