Old Vicarage road closure

As part of the Animate project, a new leisure and entertainment venue for the city centre, improvements are being made to Old Vicarage, including the creation of wider footpaths, new lighting including projection lighting that will animate the street, a new avenue of trees and new a new road surface.

This will make the route much safer and more attractive walking to and from the bus station to the historic Harris Quarter, the new Animate development and Preston Markets.

Works will take 13 weeks until the end November 2024.

Vehicle access will remain open except for a short period of overnight works to lay the new road surfaces.

Diversions are in place so please allow more time for your journeys.
