Youth Zone Progresses with Appropriation of Rights

The proposed Youth Zone project, in the heart of Preston's Harris Quarter, has progressed with the Appropriation of Rights for the land needed to allow for the development of the site.

The Appropriation has taken place following the City Council's resolution in the meeting held on 25 August 2022 to Appropriate all overriding rights and interests in the area of land shown in the plan below.

The City Council has statutory powers to Appropriate land that it owns for planning purposes in order to override rights and restrictions, which can then allow projects, such as the Youth Zone, to progress unhindered.  A right of compensation does exist for affected parties.
