Fairtrade Preston

Two hands in a handshake

Preston City Council is proud to be a Fairtrade City

Preston City Council has held Fairtrade City status since 2009. We officially support fair trade and help the city work towards fair trade goals.

Fairtrade is a movement to give:

  • better prices
  • fair terms of trade
  • improved working conditions

for farmers and workers in the developing world.

Fairtrade Steering Group

Preston City Council works with the Preston and South Ribble Fairtrade Steering Group to promote Fairtrade and encourage people to choose Fairtrade products.

When you buy products with the Fairtrade Mark, you support farmers and workers in the developing world as they work to improve their lives and their communities.

The mark means that the Fairtrade ingredients in the product have been produced by small-scale farmer organisations or plantations that meet Fairtrade social, economic and environmental standards.

The standards include protection of workers' rights and the environment, payment of the Fairtrade Minimum Price and an additional Fairtrade Premium to invest in business or community projects.
