Student council tax discount form

1. This form is to be used to be considered for a Council Tax discount if you or someone living with you is a student.

  When a student signs a tenancy agreement on a property, they will be liable for Council Tax from the start date of that agreement and provided they are full-time students, and the Council is in receipt of proof of that full time student status, exemption will be applied to the account for the duration of the full time course of education. Please ensure you read the full guidance on our student discount page.
  
  Before a discount can be granted you must provide the information in this form. In addition, a dwelling occupied by one or more residents, all of whom are students, College leavers and school leavers or occupied as term time accommodation may be exempt from Council Tax.
  
  To make the property exempt from Council Tax, proof must be given that everyone who lives in the property is a student/college leaver/school leaver.
  
  You should send the certificate(provided on request from your college) or a letter of confirmation from your school. If one of the residents is a spouse or dependant of a student and is not a British Citizen, please forward a copy of their passport or visa.

5. Exemption
  1. You do not have to pay Council Tax if the property is only occupied by students, college leavers, school leavers. The dwelling must be the sole or main residence/term time address of the residents listed below.

6. To make the property exempt from Council Tax, proof must be given that everyone who lives in the property is a student, College leaver, School leaver.

  UCLan students who registered a Preston City Council address when they enrolled with the University need only provide their student ID reference number.
  
  This is because UCLAN supplied a database that shows all students who registered to study at UCLAN with a Preston City Council address.
  
  Anyone who did not register a Preston City Council address need to provide a student certificate that can be printed off by logging into MyUCLan or requesting a certificate from The University.
