Preston Flag Market welcomes Remembrance Sunday Parade
6 November 2024
A day for reflection and remembrance of our history
This year's Remembrance Sunday Parade will take place on Sunday, 10 November at 10:30am with the procession starting at the Bus Station and finishing on the Flag Market, for the Remembrance Service at 10:50am.
Councillor Mel Close, Armed Forces Champion, said:
"Remembrance Sunday gives the community an opportunity to pay their respects to all our military personnel who have made sacrifices for their country. It's our chance to give thanks and pay tribute to them and their families and I would encourage everyone to go along and support their local Remembrance events."
Remembrance Sunday is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life. Residents of Preston are invited to join the Right Worshipful Mayor, Councillor Philip Crowe, veterans, Armed Forces and others in gathering around the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday.
As a result of the parade and service, there will be road closures in place.
Planned Route:
The parade will start at the Bus Station and move along Tithebarn Street, turning onto Lord Street, moving down Lancaster Road and onto Church Street, Cheapside and then onto the Flag Market for the service.
The parade will return via the front of The Harris and onto Birley Street next to Miller Arcade, turning onto Church Street and coming around onto Cheapside, then moving past the cenotaph to turn down Birley Street towards Earl Street and past the Markets, moving onto Lancaster Road, and back up Lord Street, finishing at the Bus Station.
