Polling District - PL1
- Area: No change.
- Polling Station: No change.
Galloway Hall has a large open space for the polling station and it is within the district boundary. There is a large car park and it is fully accessibility compliant.
Polling District - PL2
- Area: No change.
- Polling Station: Proposed change to Plungington Community Centre.
46 Henderson Street is a terraced house owned by Eldon Primary School. It is a small polling station situated at the edge of the district.
The room used for the polling station is very small with not much space to move around.
A ramp must be provided for disabled electors who must access the station from the rear as the front entrance is not suitable for wheelchair users. Only a partial ramp can be used at the rear of the building which is only suitable for smaller wheelchairs. It is not accessible for larger wheelchairs or mobility scooters.
Eldon Primary School does not have capacity to accommodate a polling station within the main school building. There are no alternative options for a polling place within this district as it is mostly comprised of housing. We propose the polling place be changed to Plungington Community Centre which is nearby.
The Community Centre actively engages with the neighbourhood and it is well known to residents. It is a short walk from 46 Henderson Street. The Community Centre has a large hall and is fully accessibility compliant and is already used for district PL4. This large space can accommodate both the electorates for PL2 and PL4.
Polling District - PL3
- Area: No change.
- Polling Station: No change.
City Church has a large hall providing ample space for a polling station. The Church does a lot of community engagement and even though is at the edge of the district is easy to find and a local hub of activity. There is limited parking directly outside however there is on-street parking close by.
Polling District - PL4
- Area: No change.
- Polling Station: No change.
Plungington Community Centre is situated centrally within the polling district. It has disabled access, has been used for many years and is well known to electors in the community. There is a large hall and a café within the premises and is a suitable building. There is a community car park close by.
Polling District - PL5
- Area: No change.
- Polling Station: No change.
The Sports Hall at Parker Street (part of Roebuck CP School) has disabled access and is well known to electors. Polling District PL5 currently shares its polling station with electors from polling districts AS3 and AS4. The Sports Hall has a large open space for multiple polling stations. On-street parking is available here.
Limiting Factors
- PL2 is part of Preston Central West Division.
- PL1, PL3, PL4 and PL5 are part of Preston Central West Division.
