Preston City Council continues to promote its new Join Us recycling campaign to raise awareness of the importance of recycling right.

Following on from Preston residents receiving a recycling guide through the post, colourful advertising has been spotted across the city, encouraging locals to recycle for a Proud Preston. By using their recycling bins correctly, residents can avoid sending waste to landfill, making the city a greener space.

The Council aims to create a cleaner, greener Preston that residents can be proud to live in. Each individual's actions have a greater positive impact on the wider community and environment.

The Mayor of Preston, Councillor Philip Crowe said:

"The Council's initiative to educate residents about the right way to recycle is an essential and very necessary campaign. Visual reminders such as leaflets, billboards and artwork on the recycling lorries can only help to inspire and educate residents to recycle correctly and mindfully."

Recently, the Council's Recycling Officer visited Eldon Street Primary School with campaign supporter RECOUP to talk to students about why recycling is important.

Recycling uses existing resources to create new products, saving water, energy and carbon emissions. Years 3 and 4 took part in a fun sorting activity to understand which bins are used for items around their house.

And on Friday, 27 September residents and students living in Plungington had the opportunity to ask any questions about recycling and take away some freebies from an educational stall hosted by campaign supporter Beyondly, alongside Preston City Council.

Residents feedback will be used in future campaigns to help the Council make recycling easier to understand for the public.
