Preston Announces Heritage Open Days 2024

Preston will showcase its history and heritage through the Heritage Open Days 2024, taking place from 7 - 15 September 2024.

This annual event invites both residents and visitors to explore a range of historic sites and landmarks in the city, featuring various activities and tours designed to highlight Preston's past.

Heritage Open Days is the UK's largest festival celebrating history and culture, and Preston will offer a diverse programme of events. Attendees can look forward to guided tours, exclusive site access, and interactive workshops, all aimed at providing a deeper understanding of the city's historical and architectural significance.

Councillor Hindle, Cabinet Member for Culture and Arts at Preston City Council said:

Key Features of Preston Heritage Open Days 2024

Participants can join expert-led tours of notable locations such as the Harris Museum and Art Gallery and St. Wilfrid's Church. These tours will cover the architectural and historical development of Preston.

Exclusive Access

Visitors will have the chance to explore areas not typically open to the public, including Preston's historic textile mills and former Docklands. These tours will illustrate the historical impact of these sites on the local community.
