Housing Advice Service for landlords
Housing Advisory Service
The Housing Advisory services team deal with a variety of tenancy management issues and offer free advice and guidance to landlords on all tenancy related matters. Legal documents such as tenancy agreements, notice to quit, section 8 and section 21 are also available to purchase for a nominal cost.

Housing Benefit and Advice
We appreciate the valued contribution that many landlords make in the community. A minority of landlords fail to manage their properties to an acceptable standard. We are therefore making full use of new powers under the Housing Act 2004 which enables the licencing of certain landlords in order to improve conditions for tenants and the local community.
Direction referring to Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOS)
A direction came into force on 28 January 2013 which enables us to control the number of properties which become Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) by requiring the submission of a planning application. For more information see our Limit on Houses in Multiple Occupation page.
Right to rent checks
From 1 February 2016 landlords must check whether prospective tenants and occupants have the right to rent in the UK.
Guidance for landlords and tenants can be found in the Home Office- right to rent user guide.
