House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) licence fees
We have to charge a license fee to cover the cost of administering the Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) licensing scheme. To keep your costs to a minimum you should provide all the necessary information set out in the how to apply for a HMO licence page.
From the 1 October 2018, mandatory HMO license fee costs will be set at the following rates.
Standard rate for a five year licence; £510 (payable in 2 parts):
- An initial application fee of £150 upon submission of an application (non-refundable).
- The final balance of £360 for the HMO license monitoring fee becomes payable when the proposed licence has been issued and before the full HMO licence is granted.
An additional fee of £100 is payable following unreasonable failure to apply by the appropriate date. This penalty fee will to be added to the full licence fee; therefore £610 in total.
An additional fee of £100 is payable following failure to submit a complete application. This penalty fee will be added to the full licence fee; therefore £610 in total.
