Notice to Mariners - Preston Docks - lock gate and swing bridge repairs

Due to essential repairs being undertaken to both the swing bridge and lock gate No.3 north at Preston Dock, access to the main dock basin from the river will be restricted.

Swing bridge repairs

The swing bridge will be inoperable from Monday 20 January 2025 for up to 10 weeks, so access beyond the lock into the main dock basin will not be possible and vice versa.

Lock gate repairs 

During the above period, maintenance work will also be undertaken to lock gate No.3 north, located immediately adjacent to the swing bridge. Diving works will be arranged for the week commencing 10 February 2025 and these works should last for up to 5 days.

No locking of vessels between Preston Dock and the River Ribble (either direction) and through the lock (either direction) is available between:

• Monday 20 January 2025 to Monday 31 March 2025
