Lost and Found Cremated Remains

It is an extremely rare occurrence, but sometimes cremated remains, also known as ashes, may be lost or found.

If the deceased person was cremated at Preston Crematorium, the details of the deceased person are permanently documented and stored in our cemetery office.

The details include the name, date of death and the applicant who authorised the cremation.

Unclaimed remains are stored with the funeral director who conducted the services at the time. If no loved one comes forward to collect them, they are returned to the crematorium where they are scattered in our woodland area.
