We will work with you to help ensure building work meets national standards and to secure a built environment which is safe, healthy and accessible.

For all the help and advice, you need for pre-application, through to a locally available and comprehensive on-site service, contact a member of the team.

Reporting Unauthorised Building Works

If you suspect that someone has been, or is still carrying out unauthorised building works, you can report them to us to investigate.

Any reports made to our team are dealt with on a confidential basis, and are taken seriously. We will attempt to keep you updated on progress of the investigation.

Reporting non-compliant building works

If you suspect that someone's building work does not comply with Building Regulations, you can report them to us to investigate.

Please be aware that if the works are covered by a private Building Control body (RCBA), Preston City Council will be unable to comment and we will advise you to log a report with them.

Reporting a breach

You can tell us about any unauthorised (or suspected) works by emailing, buildingcontrol@preston.gov.uk, giving a description of:

  • The works
  • The address of the property concerned
  • Your contact details
  • You can include any photographs if you have any (optional)

A member of the team will be available from 9am till 5pm, Monday to Friday, on our office number 01772 906913 or you can email, buildingcontrol@preston.gov.uk which is also monitored regularly throughout this time.
