Council departments and Management Team

The majority of the staff within the council work in one of four directorates each led by a director.

The Directorates

  • Community and Wellbeing
  • Environment and Property
  • Development and Housing
  • Resources

Directorates are a way of grouping services together, with a sense of common purpose providing services in a way that will make sense to those who use them. There is a clear expectation that everyone who works for the council will work together across this structure, to deliver the best possible services for the people of Preston.

The Chief Executive along with each of the Directors and the City Treasurer meet weekly as the Corporate Management Team. This team works closely with the political leadership of the council.

Every section in the council has a regular team meeting to ensure that colleagues at every level of the council are coming together to discuss service delivery.
