The following information details available food allergy awareness related courses both online and in the surrounding area of Preston.

The Food Standards Agency

The Food Standards Agency offers free online training. For more information visit Food Standards Agency - Food Allergy Awareness.

Lancashire County Council

Lancashire County Council have produced a free on-line training course with printable resources, presentations and videos with a certificate upon completion of the training. 

Chartered Trading Standards Institute

The Trading Standards Institute have produced presentations, handouts and a video in  English, Welsh, Bengali, Cantonese, Kurdish, Mandarin, Punjabi, Turkish and Urdu.

The presentation which lasts approximately 1.5 hrs covers:

  • food law enforcement
  • food hypersensitivities and the reactions people can have to them
  • what it is like to live with a food allergy
  • 14 allergens required to be declared by law and the allergen information legal requirements
  • food labelling rules for food prepacked for direct sale (Natasha's Law') which comes into force on 1st October 2021
  • allergen management
  • the potential consequences when things go wrong
