The government has a dedicated website Business is Great with lots of advice about starting up, running and growing a business. Information is available on national support schemes, grants and loans. You can also get business advice over the phone on 0300 456 3565 or chat online with an advisor Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm.
Boost Business Lancashire is a business support service for businesses across Preston and Lancashire. It has a range of services, some 100% funded, some part-funded. For full details visit the Boost website or call 0800 488 0057.
Great website is a government website with help and information on UK trade, investment, tourism and education.
BEIS is the government department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. The BEIS website has useful government policy information on business, industrial strategy, science, innovation, energy, and climate change. You can also sign up to the BEIS Bulletin.
The Trading Standards service is operated by Lancashire County Council and is there to protect the interests of both consumers and businesses. Business Companion provides free, accurate and practical advice on all trading standards law. The website has been put together by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute with trading standards and consumer law professionals. They have also published a guide with advice on the top five issues faced by businesses that sell goods or services online, by phone or by mail order and businesses that sell in people's homes called Distance Selling.
