Important COVID-19 notice: from Saturday 4 July, we will be re-opening our playgrounds at our major parks and will be opening the others over the coming weeks. For guidance you must follow when using these spaces see parks and COVID-19.

Children's playgrounds provide children and young people with an area to relax, explore, meet friends and play.

Play is an essential part of every child's life and important for their development. Through play, children learn about themselves and the world around them.

Management and maintenance

We manage over 50 play areas, catering for age groups ranging from 3 years to 14 years with teenage equipment on several sites.

We provide a weekly inspection and repair service for the council's play areas and we also carry out development work to improve the quality of our play areas.
